Department of Population Studies has been in the structure of Institute of Therapy since February 2004. It was organized in 1981 as Laboratory of epidemiology and prevention, of non-communicable diseases. From 1981 till 1998 Davydova L., Doctor of Medical Sciences, had headed it. Since 1998 it has been leading by Yermakovych I. I., DM, Senior Research Worker. The Department accounts 11 collaborators, 7 of them are researchers.
The main field of research activities is to work out the measures for maintenance of Ukrainian population health due to influence of the primary preventive steps on the main risk factors of chronic non-communicable diseases and by the secondary prevention of latter’s on the levels of organized and non-organized populations of the North-Eastern region of Ukraine.
