DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY AND
PHARMACOTHERAPY

The Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy was organized in 1981. The first chief of the Department was Myhail Lashenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences. From 1992 till 2001 years Olexiy Zmuro, Candidate of Medical Sciences, leaded the Department. Today the chief of the Department is Yuriy Rudyk, Doctor of Medical Sciences.

The basic directions of work are:

• development of modern scientific methodology of clinical trials and pharmaco-epidemiology researches;

• controllable clinical studies of efficiency and safety of drugs;

• research of a bioequivalent of drugs;

• multicentral randomized trials of affectivity and safety of drugs (I-IV phase);

• optimizing of a pharmacotherapy of patients with chronic internal diseases.

The works are developed in aspect functional, metabolic and molecular mechanisms of actions of modern medical drugs.

The employees of the Department are guided by rules of Good clinical practice (GCP) - the international standard of carrying out of clinical tests of medical preparations.

The Department of a Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy collaborates with the State Pharmacological Center of Health Ministry of Ukraine.

Results of scientific researches reflected in monographies, manuals, articles, and theses of reports, methodical recommendations, and circulars.

The collaborators of the Department wrote 7 scientific works of PhD degree and one of DS (habilitation) degree.

Clinical trials of drugs for treatment chronic heart disease (COPERNICUS, CIBIS-II, SENIORS), acute myocardial infarction (ZOF-07, EPHESUS), chronic ischemic heart disease (ONTARGET, REACH-Register), atrial fibrillation (KAMAS/SOTA), chronic renal failure (SE-866/43, ROADMAP), pneumonia (ОР, CHOPIN-2, DORI-2) were carried out.

The Seniors Research Associations (S. Pivovar and L. Ushkvarok) had the premium of Association of Gerontology and Geriatric of Ukraine by name Academic V. Frolkis.

The scientific work of the Department was the best works of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine at 2004 year.
