THE DEPARTMENT OF ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

The department of arterial hypertension exists from the day of opening of Institute. The first head of the department was a talented doctor, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Vasyliev Yu.M., who made a great contribution to development of nonmedicamentous and medicamentous methods of treatment of different forms of arterial hypertension. From 1996 year for a present time a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, member of Administration of the Ukrainian association of cardiologists, member of European society of cardiologists Koval S.M. is a Head of the department.

Basic scientific direction – is a study of haemodynamics, neurohumoral, membranous-cellular, immune, metabolic mechanisms of development, methods of early differential diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of essential hypertension and symptomatic arterial hypertensions, in that number in combination with pathology of internal organs.

Major results of researches

• The main structural and haemodynamical regularities of development and progress of hypertension have been established.

• The role of prostaglandins, opioide and sodium-uretics peptides, endothelin-1, hymase, neuropeptide Y in development of different forms of hypertension was identified.

• The key role of interleukins 1 and 2, membranous-cellular changes in pathogenesis of hypertensions and its complications were showed.

• The feature of daily profile of arterial pressure for patients with the different forms of essential hypertension and symptomatic hypertensions was identified.

• The conformity to natural laws of changes of leptin and insulin-resistance on the stages of development and progression of metabolic syndrome for patients with arterial hypertension and the optimal methods of the combined therapy of these patients were worked out.

• It was found out role of insulin-like factor of growth-1 and transforming factor of growth in the processes of heart and vessels remodeling at combination of two most widespread pathologies – arterial hypertension and type 2 of diabetes mellitus.

• The informing algorithms of early and differential diagnostics of symptomatic arterial hypertensions were created.

• The effective nonmedicamentous (laser, magnet-therapy, quantum haemotherapy) and medicamentous (with the use of new preparations) methods of treatment of arterial hypertension in that number, on a background the concomitant diseases of internal organs were elaborated.

• System of prophylaxis of arterial hypertension and its complications for patients with different concomitant pathology at the level of domestic medicine departments was developed.

The department was one of the initiators of creation in Ukraine the National program of prophylaxis and treatment of arterial hypertension and conducts large work in this direction in the country and in a region.

The employees of department based on results of research works had published over 700 scientific labors, 4 monographs, 17 methodical recommendations were given out, 45 copyright certificates and patents were received, 2 doctorate and 20 candidate's dissertations were defended. A manager of department is by the coauthor of recommendations of Ukrainian society of cardiologists on a prophylaxis and treatment of arterial hypertension and recommendations on diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of metabolic syndrome.

Works of employees of department were awarded: by a bronze medal and diplomas and ІІ and ІІІ degrees of Exhibition of achievements of national economy (1983,1984,1986,1987), by diplomas and bonuses of АМS of Ukraine (1999,2000,2001), by deeds and diplomas of Kharkiv Medical Society (1988, 1990, 1992,1996, 2003), by a diploma of the first degree of organizational committee of exhibition “Science of Kharkiv (2000). The manager was awarded by the diploma of АМS of Ukraine (2000), by the medal of АМS of Ukraine named after Academician M.D.Strazhesko “For merits in Health care” (in 2001); by a diploma named after V.Ya.Danilevsky of Kharkiv Medical Society (in 2005), by the diploma of the Kharkov’s city chairman (in 2005)

The clinical base of department is branch of hypertension and diseases of kidneys, which heads by a candidate of medical science, doctor of higher category М.М.Dunaevskaya.

The important role in the reception of scientific achievements in the department belongs to the candidates of Medical Sciences such as: Volos B.O., Starchenko T.G., Maslyaeva L.V., Мyloslavsky D.K., Snegurskaya І.О., Dunaevskaya М.М., Zeynalov F.M., Konkova V.S., Penkova M.Yu., Bozhko V.V. and research workers of Mysnichenko O.V., Reznik L.А., Perchina E.S.
